The Seventh Chakra — Crown Chakra located at the top of the head. This is relates to ones personal and spiritual connection to the universe. Rather than chase away negatives or illness, concentrate on the positives of healthy, happiness, and harmony. Let the Energy Flow. Self Treatment Self-treatment is useful to get your energy flowing. It allows you to feel Reiki energy flowing through you as it goes to parts of your body that need it.
There is no right or wrong way to work with Reiki on oneself. As you become more experienced with the Reiki energy you will intuitively move your hands to wherever it feels right. However, if you are aware of a specific problem such as an injury or pain, then you should place your hands directly over that area to begin with, and follow up with a full self treatment. Also you may wish to work with some relaxing music.
Hands overlapping on the top of the head 2. One hand on the forehead, the other hand on the back of the head midway between the crown of the head and the base of the skull 3. Hands resting on the eyes 4. Hands resting on the ears 5. One hand on the upper chest and the other on the solar plexus where the ribs come together 6. Practice these positions until you begin to feel confident. Through practice you will gain experience and start trusting your inner guidance. When you have mastered the hand positions you can then leave each self- treatment up to your own intuition.
You cannot really make a mistake. Your healing sessions are always watched over by the Divine to ensure that your efforts will always be rewarded. Close your eyes and go inside and pay attention to the thoughts and emotions that have arisen during the session. You may feel lightheaded, and if you need to rest, or sit down for a short time, allow yourself this time. If you feel you need to continue to work on a specific area of the body, even if you have completed a full self-treatment, then go with your intuition; always listen to your mind and body.
In the beginning, you might want to grab your journal and jot down your experiences and feelings during the process. Today, practice the hand positions on your self, feel the energy flow, treat yourself. Remember to do The Gassho Meditation tonight and tomorrow morning. You might want to do a short meditation or prayer.
Also set your intentions for your Reiki energy to flow. Brush your aura to remove any non-productive energy that might be lingering, a simple way is to sweep your hands down each side of your body from head to toe. Before you begin treatment on another person there are a few important points to remember. Always explain to a person who is visiting you for the first time for a Reiki treatment exactly what you are going to do and the type of reactions that might occur. Stress that any one of these reactions are normal. They may experience one or two of these reactions, all of them or none of them.
Scanning is entirely up to you. The Scanning technique is still good to know. Try to feel for differences in their energy field. You may need to repeat this several times, it does require a lot of practice to be effective. Each position is held for 3 to 5 minutes before moving to the next position.
Trust your intuition. At times you might feel that you should place your hands on a certain area, in this case trust your intuition and do that. Reiki will flow to the part of the body that requires it wherever you place your hands. This Youtube video demonstrates hand positions and placement when working with others. Keep that position until your hands cool down. This heat can be quite intense, but it will never hurt or harm. Before a treatment ensure that the person is laying or sitting comfortably and is warm enough.
Wash your hands and put on some soft music or burn incense if you want to. Ask the person to remove their shoes and to close their eyes and relax. This will focus your intentions to start the Reiki flow. Remember that the Reiki energy will flow through you and not from you. You may either place your hands lightly in each position or hold them a couple of centimeters over each position if the client prefers not to be touched.
Holding your hands above the body can be helpful when treating someone with burns or skin diseases. At the end of the Reiki treatment session shake your hands lightly to disconnect from the Reiki energy. Ask the person to get up slowly, they may feel sleepy for a while. Offer them a glass of water and allow them to take their time standing up. Inform the client that they should drink plenty of water and will probably pass water more often as toxins leave their body. Sometimes a symptom may get worse before getting better — this is normal and is part of the healing procedure.
Treating Animals Animals respond really well to Reiki — they have no preconceived ideas of the energy and it can be a good confidence boost for you to give Reiki to a pet. Animals need less Reiki treatment time and you will find that after a few minutes they may walk away as they have received enough energy.
You can treat a pet by placing one hand on the head and the other on the chest area — this will reassure and steady the animal. Animals also have chakras just as humans do, so the practitioner can also place the hands on the animal in the various chakra locations. However, a non-touching technique may also be used depending on the individual case using a fixed set of hand positions, allow your intuition to guide you.
Some animals will be happy to receive treatment for hours but most are happy with minutes. Close your eyes and visualize tree roots coming out of the soles of your feet and going down into the centre of the earth. Visualize a white light coming in through the top of your head, travelling down through each chakra and then exiting through the roots into the earth.
Allow this cycle to happen for as long as you feel necessary and then open your eyes. Animals are highly receptive to Reiki, and often their sessions are particularly short. Plants, videotapes, car batteries, food, water, crystals, stones, medicine. Just use your imagination! Conclusion Welcome to the wonderful world of Reiki. Let the energy flow, be Reiki from now on but more importantly enjoy it.
How far you travel with Reiki is up to you. Next week we begin Level II. Energy that originates outside of us yet flows through us. Like unconditional love, give it without expectations, allow it to flow freely. After your attunement tomorrow, you will be able to use this energy to treat self, animals; and each day you practice you become one with Reiki, you eat it, you drink it.
We need to record how it feels as well, to compare what we feel this time with what we feel at the end of the program. I also ask you to break this exercise into 3 parts- Self; another Person, and an Animal, pet or wild like a bird, squirrel, turtle, or frog Watch this video again and then use the hand positions for self treatment. Record what you feel like giving and also what you feel like receiving. Drink some water, and take a break, how long is up to you.
After you finish, record how the flow felt to you. It might actually be safer not to, especially with wild animals. During this attunement process you may experience the energy transfer of the attunement. You may feel heat, coolness, or a tingling beginning at the crown and spreading to the rest of the body. While, most people tend to feel either more energized, many others feel relaxed or drowsy, or sleepy even. Remember: all attunements you receive from me are prepared to allow you to receive them when, where and as many times as you want.
To receive your attunement relax or meditate. Sit or lie down, keep your back straight, be comfortable hold your hands in the Gassho position prayer position. When you feel ready say mentally or aloud or read it if you want to. It takes about 30 minutes. Once started it continues until the transfer is completed even if you fall asleep, watch television, go for a walk. During Level I we laid the foundation, Level II will help us build the framework put in the plumbing and wiring, then add the walls for our House of Reiki. Gassho is the most fundamental and also the most frequently used of all the hand gestures mudras in the practice of Reiki.
With it we recognize the oneness of all beings. For a deeper understanding of Gassho, I encourage you to review the manual as well and to take time out minutes each day for this meditation. Sit or stand comfortably with you back straight. Hold your hands, palms together in the Gassho position. Close your eyes and relax; just simply be. Ask the Reiki power to flow through you. Feel the flow. It may enter through your Crown Chakra or you experience it in your hands or Heart Chakra. Release all stress and tension.
Now raise your hands, still in the prayer position to your forehead. Simply ask or pray that Reiki will flow into and through the person being treated. Release all thoughts of possible outcomes, Invite and allow Reiki to guide your hands to any areas that may need treatment. Follow your intuition Trust; resist the urge to 'do', Reiki will go where it is needed.
When it comes to letting Reiki guide you, different people may receive their guidance in different ways. Some may simply experience pure spontaneous movement - as if being 'pulled' magnetically; some may experience images in the mind's-eye of where treatment is needed; others may 'hear' where Reiki is needed, and so on. When the treatment is finished or if no areas need treatment your hands will be guided to rest usually on your legs or in your lap.
Bring your hands back to the Gassho position. The treatment is finished. You might want to conclude with a brief meditation or prayer. This detox aspect may used separately or as part a general Reiki treatment. One-way to do Chiryo as a stand-alone is very much like we just did with Reiji-Ho. However this time following your statement of intent for the request for the healing and wellness of your client as well as the gentle clearing of all toxins. Stand to the client's left side, hold your left hand slightly above their tanden area stomach just below the navel , and place your right hand a few inches from their forehead.
Feel the Reiki as it flows through and under your hands. Keep your hands in position, until you sense a balance in the energy flow between your hands. When you feel the energy balanced, move your right hand from the client's forehead and place it on top of your left hand on their tanden area. Stay with it until your intuition feels the treatment is complete this could be up to 20 minutes, now you may remove your hands from the client's tanden area. Experiment with this technique while you treat yourself or others.
For the next 3 days we will look at 3 of the Reiki symbols, which will grant you access to the full potential of the universal life force. The power symbol can be used to increase the power of Reiki. It can also be used for protection. Imagine Reiki energy similar to electricity flowing through all the wiring in the house. Also think of whoever will be receiving treatment like a new lamp you just brought home.
To light that lamp, you first plug into the power source - our intention is that plug for Reiki. With the lamp, you flip a switch and the light bulb glows. The Reiki symbol, Cho Ku Rei, is our switch allowing the Reiki energy to flow around and through the client. The main purpose of using it is to enhance the power of Reiki and draw the energy around and concentrate it on the required purpose.
The power symbol looks like a coil. Some Reiki practitioners draw it counter clockwise when treating areas where there may be an excess of energy. The horizontal line represents the Reiki source, the vertical line symbolizes energy flow, and the spiral touching the middle line seven times represents the seven Chakras. How to Use the Reiki Power Symbol The Reiki power symbol is used primarily to connect with Reiki energy at the start of a session and also to help boost the Reiki power whenever it is required during a session.
Reiki Energy will flow without it, however many believe the energy increases a lot when the symbol is used. Some practitioners use it on their own palms and chakras before treating others, to help clear the channels and empower their hands. Some uses for the Cho Ku Rei, also how and where to draw the power symbol for each To increase the power of your healing abilities, draw or visualize Cho Ku Rei in front of you or draw it in your hands if you want.
Draw it above the body with the intention of sealing the healing process. To increase the power of the other symbols; Draw it before drawing the other symbols. I sandwich the other symbols with the power symbol, for example, with attunements, all 4 symbols are used, I draw Cho Ku Rei both first and last. This serves to increase the strength of the attunement and also to seal it.
The Power symbol can be used to spiritually clean a room from negative energy, to leave it positive and in the light. Draw or visualize the symbols on all the walls, ceiling and floor with the intent to energize the room. Draw or visualize the Reiki Power symbol in front of you. You can also draw it on an object or person with the intent of being totally protected. Tonight, practice drawing the Cho Ku Rei, both clockwise and counterclockwise.
Feel the energy flow, then use the way that feels best for you. Also practice using it in different scenarios as well, really become acquainted with the Reiki power symbol. It is pronounced "say hay key". Before we go any farther, we should become familiar and learn to draw the symbol.
There a many explanations of how to draw this symbol. This diagram is what I believe is the simplest and the one I use, To use Sei Hei Ki, first write down on a piece of paper the emotional or mental aspect you would like to have healed in your life, and fold it so it fits in between your hands.
Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time, but unless we go into every room, every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not a complete person. What affects any one of these bodies affects other three as well.
The Energy in Your Hands on Apple Books
The Physical You your body — your tangible structure and the five senses that enable you to touch, see, hear, smell, and taste the world around you. The Mental You your thoughts — knowledge, attitude, and beliefs. The Emotional You your feelings — the range of emotions from fear and anger to love and joy. The Spiritual You your spirit — relationship with oneself, creativity, and life purpose. Your relationship with a Higher Power. It can also be used for pain management and relief for many pains such as migraines, back and leg pains, arthritis, and many others.
Reiki helps bring about inner peace and harmony.
It can be valuable tool in the quest for spiritual growth Different practitioners use this symbol in different ways. For example, the practitioner draws the Cho Ku Rei the power symbol to create a connection with the Reiki energy source. Then Sei He Ki is drawn over the troubled area where the Reiki energies are required. The energies are sealed by drawing the power symbol or Cho Ku Rei again. Practice using the first two symbols together, also remember to do the Gassho Meditation daily.
Distance is not a barrier when using this symbol and a practitioner can send healing energies to people across the room, across town, or even to the other side of the world. Explanations of how to draw each Kanji in the correct order are varied, many examples use 22 strokes, however some variations may use 30 or more.
I like to break the distant healing symbol into the separate Kanji use the graphic to follow along with this explanation. Next are Strokes 6 through 10 - 6 is a foundation or floor and 7 slides down to the left like skiing down the side of a mountain. Strokes 8, 9, and 10 build a little house at the bottom of that ski slope. Stroke 11 is inside and is a handle. The next two strokes are like a mustache as Stroke 16 is drawn to the left and 17 to the right.
Stroke 18 is the mouth underneath them. It will not change the events, as past things cannot be changed; but sending Reiki to the past helps to rethink the experience as an important lesson, part of learning process, and it helps heal the pain so the client can move on with their life, by bringing body, mind and spirit into harmony. Reaches Across Space: As we mentioned earlier, then primary use for Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen is to send healing energy across a room, town, to different parts of your country or just anywhere in the world.
To heal people who are not present. However, we need to understand that when we do use Reiki for long distance healing, it works more with the subtle body, like the Aura or Chakras rather than the physical body. Also sending Reiki energy for a particular problem such as headaches or backaches can limit the energies very much.
This completes the Level II manual and the three symbols. You have the knowledge, now practice, practice, practice to make it yours. Remember, You are Reiki, Reiki is You. With our healing exercises tomorrow, first try the hands on with self, another person, or a pet. For the second part, talk to a friend not physically with you, another room, across town, or even on-line. Then along came Distance to add the roof.
Now we're about to blend all those together and get the house ready to paint and add the carpeting next week in Level III. Think of some event in your past that has caused some resentment, anger, something you hold a grudge about. With Distance healing, our imagination or ability to visualize is really important, since we are not in direct contact with the event or person receiving the Reiki energy. To aid with the visualization of for healing an event from the past, I recommend a Youtube video for a meditation guided by Lisa Beachy.
Practice this exercise as often as possible. Remember as you practice you are becoming one with Reiki. So breathe it, eat it, and drink it, and be Reiki. Tomorrow is the day for Level II attunements; they will be ready to receive at midnight tonight your time or anytime after that. To receive the attunement, simply find a quiet place, the sit or stand in a comfortable position, back straight and hands in the Gassho position. Call for your spirit helpers, angels, totems, if you wish. After receiving this attunement, you will better understand the importance for the harmony of wholeness on all levels - your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual bodies.
It opens your heart chakra and your connection between the physical and spiritual realms. You will become more sensitive to the subtle energies around you, also your intuition will increase, begin to trust it. To receive the attunement, go to your quiet place, sit or stand in a comfortable position with your back straight, hold your hands in the Gassho prayer position. If you want to you may call for your spirit guides or angels. Don't worry though, this is normal in both the extremes and diversity of feelings, after all we are all unique individuals. One thing you do need to be aware of; you may feel flu like symptoms, nausea, headache, muscle or joint pains - this too will pass - Many of us, including me, go through a purification process, both physically and emotionally.
Many Masters recommend a day cleansing period, how long it lasts is up to you, but for a few days at least following this attunement, drink plenty of water and try to eat healthier and lighter meals, lots of fruit and vegetables while avoiding fatty meat. This allows an easier and faster detoxification of your system. We practiced using them, individually and together. First here is our new symbol - the Usui Reiki Master symbol, it is said this symbol increases the strength of your Reiki energy and enables you to receive a more powerful, higher vibration of Reiki energy. First is how to pronounce it - Day- Ko-My-O.
Second is how to draw it. While your drawing the symbol, say it, repeat Day Ko My O with each stroke. This symbol is associated with the crown Chakra and is used to heal the soul. Since it deals with the soul and our spiritual self, it heals disease and illness from the original source in the aura or energy fields. It helps to bring peace and enlightenment. It also allows us become more intuitive and psychic. The Attunement can be accomplished in many ways; my way is through meditation.
If you want to, play some relaxing music in the background. Sit, stand, or lay down, with back straight and comfortable. Use a few deep breaths to relax. With eyes closed, envision the Dai Ko Myo symbol - repeat the name 3 times, aloud or in your mind. See the Light radiating outward through your Aura as well. Hold these thoughts, and continue repeating Dai Ko Myo for as long as you meditate.
When you feel as one with the symbol of divine light, you may open your eyes; take a few more deep breaths. Stand up and move about. The Master symbol is now an important tool available to you. Once attuned, always use it before the other symbols to increase their sensitivity and power. Dai-Ko-Myo is used in all healings to bring in a higher and purer light for healing.
The Master Symbol is drawn several ways; use the one that resonates with you. So far, we've used the traditional Kanji. The graphic shows several contemporary versions also. If you have time this evening, practice a healing session leading with the Master symbol. Our topic tomorrow is how to use Dai Ko Myo and the other symbols from Level II to remove negative psychic energy from ourselves and others.
I feel it expands our understanding of what Reiki is and see that we can use i not all healing is about illness or injury. We can also use it to move forward to set intentions and to the past where we cannot change events but can release and heal painful memories, perceptions, and negative energies. We can use Reiki to address things that go bump in the night as well. Protect yourself from negative energies either from people you treat or people you meet. It is important to draw the symbols on walls, ceilings, windows, doorways and floors. Just follow your intuition to guide you to what should be cleansed.
Some refer to this method of removing negative energy as psychic surgery; I prefer to compare it to preparation for surgery, not the actual surgical procedure. We sterilize the tools, environment, and self before we begin treatment. Maybe to detoxify is an even better word.
There are several techniques for this. Its prime focus is to be able to detoxify both self and client. As an added benefit is that is also used to improve the digestion after eating and reduces the side effect of many medicines or treatments. We may define the term "Tanden" as a field or the source where we can raise as much energy as we need. Or to put into the concept of Reiki, Tanden is the whole body.
Many times we see Tandem spoken of as upper, middle, and lower Tandem, also front and back Tanden. Begin with several deep breaths to relax and hold your hands in the Gassho position. State your intent to remove the toxins and negative energies. Next draw or visualize the master symbol as a beam of light in the middle of your palms, next see the power symbol followed by the symbol of harmony. Now place one hand on the front lower tanden and the other hand on the back of the tanden one hand in front of them below the navel and the other hand on there lower back etc.
Many masters say to do this for 13 minutes; I prefer not to use a time limit, but to continue until you feel the toxins have left the body. There are several other techniques for cleansing as well. You should use other purification techniques such as joshin kokyuu-ho or hanshin koketsu-ho etc. Some objects you come across like jewelry, crystals etc can sometimes contain Negative energy and this technique can help rectify this.
According to some resources - originally the brushing was only from wrist to tips of fingers; the brushing of the arms from shoulder to hand is an addition by H. Doi 1 Place your right hand on your left shoulder with palm gently touching your shoulder. Always breathe out when sliding down - Haa sound. Left arm is straight and at your side.

Tomorrow we begin to add crystals to our tool bag. First are the Crystals associated with the Chakras and how we can use them to focus and amplify or Reiki flow. We will focus on the Chakras and some of the associated stones, some methods of using the stones both for hands on and absent healing. We will also talk about Reiki Crystal grids, their purpose and some designs.
One of the simplest ways to help balance the whole chakra system is to place a stone of the appropriate color on each Chakra. This gives each chakra a boost of its own vibration without changing its energies or the overall harmony of the system. Solar Plexus Chakra Manipura - Yellow - Stones - Citrine, Yellow Jasper, Golden Calcite Health Issues: diabetes, hypoglycemia, gallstones, nervousness, low energy, muscle cramps, stomach problems, lumbar spine, liver disorders. Throat Chakra Vissudha — Blue - Stones - Sodalite, Blue Calcite, Blue Kyanite, Angelite, Blue Turquoise Health issues: fever, ear infections, weariness, thyroid problems, disorders in the throat, ears, voice, neck, cervical spine, hypothalamus and esophagus problems.
Placing a different stone on each of the seven chakras will strengthen and tone up the entire system. You might want to place a grounding stone, like smoky quartz, between the feet to act as an anchor. When removing the stones, start with the Crown Chakra and work down to the Root. This is part of the healing process. Also a stone that feels good when first placed on the body may have an energy shift when its energy has been absorbed. Always ask the one receiving treatment for input as well, and work together for the maximum benefit.
Again allow your intuition to guide you when select crystals to use. The type of the stone is your choice. Use whatever stone feels right to you. I like to use quartz crystals You may want to match the size of the stones with the amount of space you want to take up with the grid. To attune the stones, draw or visualize the master symbol followed by the power symbol, the harmony symbol, the distance symbol and again the power symbol over each stone Use 6 of the attuned stones to form a six-pointed star, with the points pointing in.
Place a 7th charged stone inside your star with the point going between two of the outer crystals. The last stone is your Master Stone; place it outside the grid, off to the side Use a photo of yourself or write your name on a piece of paper and place it in the middle under the central crystal. On the back of the photo or paper, write a positive affirmation.
You should re-charge your Reiki grid each day to keep it empowered. To do this take the Master Crystal and hold it between your hands. Draw the Distant Symbols over it and any other symbols you are guided to use, such as the Power Symbol or the Master Symbol. Do Reiki on the Master Crystal for five to ten minutes to charge it with Reiki. You may also ask your guides or angels or other spiritual beings to work with you and to charge the Master Crystal with love and deep healing. When the Master Crystal is charged, go to your Reiki grid and use the Master crystal to draw the distant symbol over the Reiki grid.
After the grid is charged, anyone whose name or picture that you place in the grid will continuously receive distant Reiki. You may also write your goals or other situations on a piece of paper and place that in the grid for Reiki blessings also. New stones and stones you used will need to be cleansed. Cleansing crystals removes unwanted energy and restores them to their original clarity. Cleansing should be done each time your crystals are used for healing.
Sea Salt: Use dry sea salt in a small container and bury the crystal for 24 hours. Sun and Water: Hold the crystals under running water for a minute and then place in the sun to dry. Again be careful with too much exposure to the sun, some stones will fade or even change colors from too much sun or heat. This powerful modality helps us to integrate balance, harmony, and flow into our lives and the lives of others and contributes to incredible transformation. As we practice Reiki, we will learn to access the Universal Life-Force Energy; an infinite source for healing to which we each have unlimited access.
Larissa is passionate about helping people rediscover their own innate healing and intuitive abilities to create lasting and inspired change. OM Toronto. Q: Why do you split the sessions over multiple weeks instead of completing each level or multiple levels in 1 weekend? A: Traditionally, Reiki is taught over many years, as it takes time for the practitioner to go through their own energetic shifts and learning curves.
As the teachings have been passed down, the time for classes has been shortened to make the teaching more accessible to more people. We become better practitioners when we have the opportunity to practice on others, receive treatments, and experience and apply Reiki Healing in our every day lives, so by splitting the course over multiple weeks, we allow time for questions to formulate and shifts to begin to take place.
It also allows you time as the student practitioner to practice on friends and family and to rest between your training and your regular work week. While multiple levels of Reiki Certification can take place over a weekend in some places, we believe that the best teaching is supported by time, practice, and continued guidance, so we work to offer the best and most extensive training possible, while still considering a busy North American lifestyle. Register for Reiki Level II. Q: What Reiki Branches and Lineage does your training include?
